Santa Fe is within a half day's drive from several metropolitan areas, including El Paso and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, Denver, Colorado, and Pheonix, Arizona, making it easy to plan a road trip to our slice of Southwest heaven. Alternatively, there are two airports less than an hour away.

Driving Directions from Top Nearby Cities

From El Paso, Texas

approx. driving time: 4 hours 45 minutes:

  • Get on I-10 W from N Campbell St and Yandell Dr
  • Take I-25 N to NM-466 N/Old Pecos Trail in Santa Fe County. Take exit 284 from I-25 N
  • Follow Old Pecos Trail and Old Santa Fe Trail to E San Francisco St in Santa Fe

From Dallas / Ft. Worth

approx. driving time: 7 hours 35 minutes:

  • Follow FM1770 and Co Rd 170 to TX-153 W
  • Continue on TX-153 W. Take US-84, I-40 W and US-285 N/US Hwy 285 N to NM-466 N/Old Pecos Trail in Santa Fe County. Take exit 284 from I-25 S/US-285 N
  • Follow Old Pecos Trail and Old Santa Fe Trail to E San Francisco St in Santa Fe

 

From Denver, Colorado

approx. driving time: 6 hours:

  • Get on I-25 S. Take for 287 miles.
  • Take exit 284 for NM-466/Old Pecos Trail.
  • Continue on Old Pecos Trail to E San Francisco Trail

 From Pheonix, Arizona

approx. driving time: 8 hours:

  • Get on I-17 N and continue for 152 miles.
  • Take exit 340A to I-40 E toward Albuquerque and continue for 322 miles.
  • Take exit 159B-C and merge onto I-25 N toward Santa Fe.
  • Continue on US-285 N/US-84 W/S St Francis Dr/US Hwy 285 N. Take Cerrillos Rd to W San Francisco St in Santa Fe.

 

How Do I Get To Santa Fe From The Airports?

The Santa Fe Municipal Airport boasts daily direct flights from Denver, Dallas or Phoenix—making for an easy weekend or extended getaway. Once you’ve arrived, you can find two car rental agencies right at the airport so you can begin your Santa Fe adventure right away. 

Santa Fe Car Rental Companies

You can also fly into the Albuquerque International Sunport—a short 45-minute drive away from Santa Fe. At the Sunport, you can choose from more than seven car rental agencies.

Santa Fe Shuttle Service

If driving a rental car to Santa Fe isn’t your plan you may prefer to take a shuttle. One service at the ABQ airport is the Sandia Shuttle Express–a convenient service between Santa Fe and the Albuquerque International Sunport with 30 trips daily to fit your travel schedule. The shuttle offers to pick up and drop off at all Santa Fe hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, colleges, and other locations. Shuttle time is 75 minutes one way. Just remember to call to make a reservation.

 

The ABQ Express Shuttle offers 3 daily options running between Albuquerque’s Alvarado Transit Station, served by Amtrak and Grayhound, and the Santa Fe Place Mall.
